How Big Do Bernedoodles Get? Bernedoodle Size, Height & Weight

Bernedoodles can weigh anywhere from 10 pounds to over 100 pounds and stand approximately 12 to 29 inches tall at the shoulder, depending on their size. Full grown bernedoodles generally have four sizes including tiny, miniature, medium and standard.

The adult size of doodles depends on the size of their parents, nutrition and generation. Male Bernedoodles tend to have a bigger build and weigh more than their female counterparts. Even puppies born in the same litter can differ in their adult size.

When Do Bernedoodles Stop Growing?

Bernedoodles typically reach their adult size at different ages, depending on their size and genetics. Toy (Tiny) doodles generally grow to their full height roughly around 8 to 10 months and finish filling out at 12 months.

In contrast, Mini Bernedoodles usually reach their full height around 9 to 12 months and continue gaining muscle mass at 12 to 16 months. Medium doodles also achieve their full height around 12 to 13 months and standard ones at 12-14 months. However, they both continue filling out until 18 and 18-24 months, respectively. The American Kennel Club’s guide to canine growth explains how a dog’s size influences the time it takes to reach full maturity.

Does Generation Affect a Bernedoodle’s Size?

A Bernedoodle’s generation tells you which parent dogs were bred together, but it doesn’t guarantee a particular adult size. The size of the parents, inherited traits, and other factors influence how large a puppy may grow.

An F1 Bernedoodle is a first-generation cross and its size depends largely on its parents’ size. F1b doodles can range from small to large, while F2 doodles from the same litter may reach different adult sizes because they inherit different genetic traits.

Likewise, breeders can select parents for a preferred size for Multi-Gen doodles, but individual puppies may still vary in height and weight. So it’s best to ask the breeder about their parent sizes and the adult sizes of puppies from previous litters for an estimated size.
